It was another beautiful Maui weekend. I’m sad to see it end.
I did manage to get out of the house for a bit on Saturday to attend the fabulous Noelani Stancil’s one year old birthday bash. She was sporting an adorable retro style polka dotted bathing suit and a smile. Her mama looked gorgeous too. The homemade desserts were wonderful. I hope she liked the cute denim dress (with gold buttons down the side) that we got her from the Gap.
I spent most of the weekend right here, inside my quirky casa. I took the shot on the left for photo of the day on Saturday and it had the most likes I’ve ever received on Instagram. I was so surprised people liked my polka dotted sensibilities. Mahalo everyone! My living space is ~800 square feet and this shot is a portion of the side where I dine and relax (two of my favorite things to do!) As for the shot on the right, as I like to say, home is where the bed is. This is a shot of the other side of the space where I sleep and write. I also spent a fair amount of time here as I re-organized the closet. I use the bed as a staging area when I organize, put away laundry or wrap gifts.
I got a fair amount of cuddling in with my girl Moi Moi. She’s so soft and loves to be hugged and get her ample belly scratched. My mom adopted her from the Maui Humane Society. She had heartworm (all gone now!) and had been adopted and given up several times before. My mom is an animal lover and has always opened up her heart to animals in need. She is the one who will adopt the old beat up cat over the cutest kitten to ensure the older feline has a fighting chance. As I was growing up, I often shared the back seat of the orange VW with stray dogs we picked up along the way.
I made a quick trip to Lighthaus Camera in Kihei to exchange a wireless remote clicker thingy for a wired remote clicker thingy to use with my tripod because I suffer from shakey chai tea hand syndrome. The guy behind the counter was talking to me about how I can flip the switch down for super long and I nodded earnestly like I knew what he was talking about. I had no clue what he was talking about.
I didn’t want to spend any moola this weekend but the clutter on my open shelves in my closet was really annoying me so I did hit up Lowes to buy a bunch of wonderful squishy maize Alan Roth baskets to tidy up a bit.
I’m craving a pomegranate martini from Sansei. Do any of you know how to make a good pomegranate martini? Please leave your recipe and tips in the comment section below and I will send you a virtual hug.
Have a great week everyone!
