The art of letterpress is alive and well in our neck of the woods…Linda Akiyama Coleon of Aloha Letter Press is creating beautiful stationery in Pukalani…
Letterpress was once widely used for the printing of books and stationery but has since given way to more efficient and less labor intensive methods of commercial printing. However, the use of the letterpress has undergone a revival with crafters and book printers who are part of the small press movement. Crafters are using their skills to create cards and invitations which provide a crisp, beautiful image with strong definition.
Linda uses vintage Chandler Price presses to create her gorgeous and colorful handmade and customized cards. I always keep a supply of special cards on hand and these are perfect for my collection. Letterpress cards are popular for weddings but I also love the look for a handwritten note on a special occasion, to tell someone how much you appreciate them or to offer kind words of support to a loved one when they need it the most.
