I read Design*Sponge daily. If I’m not reading new posts, I’m scrolling thru the archives. Gorgeous images of homes, peeks in to artists toolboxes, unique DIYs and the Biz Ladies series of posts on blog/business issues never fail to inspire. Grace Bonney, a former contributing editor to Domino as well as other well known shelter mags, started her blog in 2004 as an outlet to express her love of design and decorating. Now, 7 years later, Design*Sponge has 75,000 main site and 121,000 RSS readers across the globe. To the delight of all D*S readers, Design*Sponge at Home, the book was published.
The book is chock full of sneak peeks of amazing homes in New York, Indiana and London, just to name a few. DIY projects featured include a cat bed made out of a vintage suitcase, a spool coffee table/bookcase and an upholstered otomi headboard. There’s even a section on DIY basics for painting furniture, sewing a slipcover or stocking a toolbox. The flower workshop pages provide how to arrangement tips, flower combinations and unusual vessel choices. If you thrift, you’ll love the before and after section where one person’s trash truly becomes another’s treasure. I love a new design book and this one is a generous 390 pages.
