Stillwell’s has been on my Maui must eat list for what feels like a foodie eternity. I finally made it to this adorable spot this past Saturday.
I attended a party recently where Dania Katz of Edible Magazine and Kupu Maui brought a tray of Stillwell’s flourless chocolate cake bites that were to die for. So when my cousin Mandy and auntie Bobbie invited me to join them for lunch and dessert this weekend at Stillwell’s, my answer was a resounding hell yeah, bring on the desserts ladies.
Stillwell’s is a bakery and cafe located on Ka’ahumanu Avenue between HP Baldwin High School and old Wailuku town (right before the bridge).
The place was hopping with Mauians picking up the beautiful and delectable desserts for take-out but the lunch menu was just as tempting. The sandwich choices include crab cake, tuna melt, reuben and many more. They offer a wide range of bread choices including my favorite, focaccia. Salads include caesar, taco, greek and cobb, just to name a few. Daily soup specials, dry mein and chow fun round out the menu. I enjoyed the daily egg salad special on focaccia while Mandy and Bobbie shared a reuben.
We all enjoyed a little chocolate this and that while we chatted and caught up. I also selected a fruit tart and their famous cream horn to take home for my family. The coffee mousse was tempting but I decided to save that treat for a future visit. Stillwell’s also bakes a selection of breads and baked goods to satisfy you carb lovers.
The food was delicious and the prices reasonable. Three thumbs up for Stillwell’s…
Roy and Louise Stillwell opened their namesake bakery and cafe in 1994 and has been recognized as “The Best Bakery on Maui” by the Maui News. They also serve breakfast and prepare cakes for weddings and other special occasions. You can find their hours and menu on their site but with one little warning. The photographs are absolutely beautiful; prepare to be tempted.
