All posts on MauiShopGirl are subject to copyright laws. I’d love it if you printed a copy for your own personal, non-commercial use or quoted a line or two with a link back but please don’t copy an entire post to your blog (bad for SEO…yours and mine) or distribute as your own work.
All images were photographed by MauiShopGirl unless otherwise noted. If you’d like to use an image for your own site, please click on contact me and send a request to me.
I contact all photographers and other bloggers for approval prior to using any of their images unless their site provisions allow free use. For product reviews, I will use stock retail photos from online shops without prior approval. If you feel I’ve used your photo and did not comply with copyright laws, please contact me as soon as possible.
All opinions expressed on this blog are my own and do not represent the opinions of any of my employers, past or present.
All sponsorship, affiliate income or products received as gifts will be disclosed in the post the product or sponsor is featured. All sponsored editorial content will be written by MauiShopGirl and products/services featured will only be selected if of interest to MauiShopGirl’s readership. If you wish to sponsor MauiShopGirl, please contact us by clicking on the contact tab.
Occasionally I may receive invitations to attend events or visit certain entertainment or other establishments gratis. I will disclose within the post that I attended as a guest and I do not guarantee that I will write a post in exchange for my attendance. I will only write a post if the material is appropriate for MauiShopGirl, the experience was positive (in other words, I loved it) and the content will be of interest to my readers (I think you’ll love it).
I also may participate in a collaboration with an artist, designer or photographer on a project where I receive their services gratis. I will clearly disclose in the original post the work is first featured that the project is a collaboration and services were shared gratis with all parties involved.
On occasion, I do receive a thank you gift from a grateful artisan or business after I featured their product. These gifts are always a pleasant but unnecessary surprise, completely unexpected, nominal in monetary value and are not disclosed as they do not constitue a material relationship.
If you choose to purchase a product, meal or experience I’ve featured on MauiShopGirl, your transaction is with the seller, not me. I recommend you check with the seller for updated pricing and terms and also refer to other sources for reviews on reliability and quality. Any customer service or other issues including quality you may encounter should be taken up directly with the seller for resolution.
The point of MauiShopGirl is to share things I love and a positive slice of my Maui and design loving life. Therefore, you will not see any negative reviews (although I may do the occasional rant about life’s little quirks). I follow the golden rule…if you can’t say anything nice (or at least constructive), then don’t say anything at all.
I try my best to proofread for spelling and grammar errors but it’s just little ole me, often writing on the fly, I don’t have an editor for hire sitting in the corner of my bedroom so I will make the occasional mistake and do try to rectify those errors as soon as possible. I am already an avid reader of Grammar Girl if any of you grammar pros were thinking of recommending it as daily reading. Being that I’m a Maui raised girl, you’ll also sometimes find pidgin english on my domain…because dat’s how, we talk li’dat when we stay talking story with our bruddahs and sistas over some ono grindz and beerz. If you ever need anything translated, don’t hesitate to ask.
Speaking of reviews…MauiShopGirl posts are not edited or written by any brand or business being featured. The only PR department previewing anything is MauiShopGirl (that would be me). Of course, if I’ve made a factual error, that error will be corrected immediately. Any guest posts will be clearly marked as such. Interviews are also clearly marked as such, interview responses are the interviewees own words with a few minor spelling or punctuation edits as needed. However, the interview questions, intro and conclusion are written by me.
Sponsors and PR
If you are a blogger or a business and would like to place a sponsor ad, please click on contact me and send me an inquiry. Please include a link to your site.
If you represent a company in the PR capacity, please feel free to contact me with tips about your client’s business, upcoming events or a press release you think may be of interest to my readers. I can’t guarantee I’ll write about it (dependent on relevance, space and time constraints), but I’ll definitely take a look.
Giveaways and Contests
MauiShopGirl does not host giveaways and contests. Why not? There are Federal and State laws to comply with and I’m not interested in using my limited resources (me) to keep up to date in that particular area. If you’re interested in learning more about this topic, here’s a great blog post by another blogger that I follow that discusses some of the legal issues of giveaways (she uses the term sweepstakes, contests and lotteries but if you read on, giveaways do fall into one of these categories, dependent on the terms).
I reserve the right to remove comments which are spam, purely self-promotional or irrelevant to the content. Constructive criticism is cool (do tell me how you’d rearrange my living room!) but any comments that reek of racism, hate or screams troll will get kicked to the curb . Please include your link in the link field because I’d love to pop on over to your site or blog!
