“National Dog Day wishes to encourage dog ownership of all breeds, mixed and pure
– and embraces the opportunity for all dogs to live a happy, safe and abuse-free life.”
When I come home from work every day, I’m greeted by a husky tomboy with supersoft black fur and a fluffy tail wagging in a big circle like a helicopter propeller. Priceless…
In the market for a dog and tempted by all the cute purebred puppies? Please also consider adopting a poi or pure pooch with some life experience under their belt as there are huge advantages to bringing home an older dog. Having insight into the temperment of a grown dog will help you determine if he or she will be a good fit for your home and family.
Note: if you are experiencing a whole lot of crazy in your one to two year old, now full sized doggie (otherwise known as “what happened to my cute little puppy panic”), don’t despair. Your dog may look like an adult but she’s going thru her adolescance exerting her independance (don’t you remember what it was like to be a teenager?). Please seek out help with training if needed but don’t give up on her baby… even though these times are hard and she’s driving you crazy. I see way too much puppy teenagers at the humane society wondering what the heck happened and it just breaks my heart in two.
