Lovely Clusters…

Aloha!  I wanted to share with you all today Rachel Follet’s Lovely Clusters.  Rachel is a graphic and web designer on the valley isle who shares beautiful handmade and vintage objects with her readers.  Rachel has collected a group of us to guest blog for her while she is off in beautiful Italy.

You can read my guest post on Lovely Clusters today about one of my favorite Paia boutiques, Lilikoi Beauty here.

Also be sure to take a peek at the other guest posts including a tutorial on pretty reusable gift tags made of chalkboard and clay by Ashley Pahl from She Makes a Home.

You can also live vicariously through Rachel (I know I will!) and follow her travels on instagram, @lovelyclusters.

Happy 30K!

When MauiShopGirl went live in July of 2011, I was happy if even ten people swung by on any given day.  Since then, my readership has  grown and yesterday’s page views surpassed the 30,000 mark!  Woo hoo! By the way, 30K in total over the life of the blog, not 30K in one day (just in case any of you were overly impressed, I’m still a teeny fish, almost microscopic, in a big ocean).

Writing Prompts…NaBloPoMo…MauiShopGirl Style

I’m participating in BlogHer’s December NaBloPoMo blog every day challenge. When you’re at a loss for words, all blogged out and feeling generally uninspired, you can turn to BlogHer for their daily writing prompt.  The problem? My prompts, in no particular order, after the jump… By the way, this month’s suggested topic is gift but you can blog about anything you’d like.

Inspired to blog…

I’ve signed up for BlogHer’s NaBloPoMo online challenge.  The challenge is to blog every single day in November. I realize my proverbial plate is already full but I strive to blog daily anyway, challenge or no challenge.  With NaBloPoMo, I can share that experience with other inspired bloggers and earn the right to display a pretty cool badge on my domain.  The reason daily blog posts can be a challenge is usually a matter of time and topic.

Whiskers…My guardian angel

Whiskers Hashimoto…

When I first separated from my husband, I stayed with my sister and her hubby Scott until I got settled in my own place.  Their cat, Whiskers, is a big, ornery fellow who doesn’t always warm up to strangers.  Every night during my stay Whiskers watched over me.  He stayed perched on a bookshelf next to the bed I was sleeping in the whole night.  Part of me thinks he may have been keeping an eye on me; watch cat style, but a big part of me knows he could feel I needed him.
