There’s been outrage over Netflix’s recent up to 60% increase in rates for dvd + streaming plans. My feathers aren’t ruffled. They can see the future and dvds by mail ain’t it. I suspect they are speculating streaming will be their main product at some point and they need to invest the cash in licensing and technology. So, they’ll lose some subscribers at this point, but if they build their streaming product, that will be the key to their survival, not the dvd product. I don’t have cable in my bedroom, I just stream netflix via apple tv and watch dvds. My new netflix rate will still be less than the cost of cable so as far as I’m concerned, it’s all good.
