Happy Thirsty Thursday! It’s time to go shopping…all Maui all the time.
Puka shell bangles, organic but glittery drusy quartz rings and amazing hoops round out the contemporary jewelry collection by Hula Hoops Maui, perfect for your girlfriend or best friend.
I love visiting Letarte’s beautiful shop on Baldwin Avenue. The all white beach chic decor is the perfect backdrop for this Maui line of swimsuits that has been worn by celebrities and featured in Sports Illustrated. Their coverups, sarongs, ready to wear and shoes are also gorgeous. I heart this rashguard…perfect for the SUPer on your list.
Although there is no hint of pineapple taste in Pau Vodka, the sweet golden fruit is one of the secrets to this pure vodka. The packaging is beautiful, perfect for gift giving or to share at a holiday party.
Our Hanai Plate, a cookbook to benefit the Paia Youth & Cultural Center, is a must for every Hawaii household. This cookbook is a beautiful addition to any collection, with its colorful pages and photos of da kids having fun in the kitchen at the Paia Bay Cafe, a life skills cooking program. Hawaii’s melting pot is well represented with favorite recipes from the many cultures of our islands. From chipotle sour cream fish tacos to crab wontons to gandule rice…If that doesn’t make your mouth water, how about some green tea sponge cake, sweet potato malasadas or coconut butter mochi? (Can you tell how excited I am about this cookbook? I could write a whole post about it.) I picked up my copy at Mana Foods (right near the opening of the vitamin section, before the deli) but you can also order online. Update, Costco Kahului is also carrying this wonderful cookbook.
Victor Pellegrino’s writers’ series are not new but continue to be handy guides for the student or writer on your list. I have two of the four, A Writer’s Guide to Perfect Punctuation and A Writer’s Guide to Transitional Words and Expressions which includes an entire section on substitute words for “said”! Who wouldn’t love that? I plan on adding the other two to my library in the near future. Victor has also written a Hawaiian children’s book inspired by his family’s taro farm. Chicks love skulls! Right? Right on! Especially when the skulls have a mix of bling and natural elements mixed in. But, that’s not all Rockabella Jewels has to offer. Mini sea urchin pendants, hammered stacking rings and gold dipped opihi dangling on hoops are just a few of my top picks.
